2019 Pinto World Championship Show

Two weeks ago we loaded up and headed for Tulsa, OK. With seven horses in the trailer and two full weeks of horse showing ahead of us, it was guaranteed to be an exciting and eventful show! Between the all the late nights and early mornings, tack and rider changes and an emergency doctor visit, we came out on top! With Top 10 finishes in the Novice and Youth 14-18 Trail, Youth Showmanship, and Bareback Horsemanship, Top 5s in English Showmanship, Novice and Youth Horsemanship and a win in the Western Pleasure I couldn't be more proud of my horses and the "Kunkle Krew" for all the hard work and support throughout the two weeks! Congrats to all my friends and family for their placings as well! You all did AMAZING!
Much love always!

IHSA Nationals

After a successful Semi-Finals in Utah, team SAU packed up and headed to Syracuse, NY for the 2019 IHSA National Championship Show. After checking in, meeting lots of new people and cheering on our teammate Sam in her individual Hunter seat class, it was time for me to get dressed and get my game face on. After two rides, I ended up seventh in the nation in the Individual Open Horsemanship at my first IHSA Nationals! With my teammates, coaches and family there to cheer me on it was a great experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. After celebrating it was time to cheer on Gina (who placed seventh in the AQHA highpoint rider competition! You go girl!). It was a great show and a great experience, and I can't wait to see everyone next year in Syracuse!

IHSA Western Semi-Finals

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of traveling to Logan, Utah with my St. Andrews Western teammates to compete at one of the three IHSA Western Semi-Finals. Standing in the arena was surreal. All the hard work and dedication throughout the year brought us to Utah as a team! Teamwork definitely makes a dream work! With the help of our coaches and each other we ended up 6th overall. In addition to riding with the team, I was able to compete in the individual competition which is anything but individual. With my team behind me and teammate competing in the arena beside me (Go Annie!!) I was ready to take on anything. Finishing 3rd overall guaranteed me a spot in the Individual Open Horsemanship at the 2019A Nationals in May, and I couldn't have done it without all the love and support from my teammates! Thank you to Sam, Shelby, Maggie, Hannah, Annie, Gina, Cailey, and Coach Carla (the Utah Dream Team!) and all my amazing teammates back home! It takes a village! As Carla always says, "We will not weaken!" Nationals here we come! Go Knights!

2018 Year-End Awards Banquet and Crowning

3/5/2019

Hi friends! My name is Sarah Beth Felker, and I am so honored to have had Allison pass down the crown to me last weekend at the 2018 Year-End Awards banquet. Being crowned the SCQHA Queen has been one of my goals since first learning about the contest as a Small Fry, and I’m so excited that it has become reality! Studying the AQHA Rulebook and preparing for the interview are the most challenging aspects of the competition, however it has helped tremendously with my confidence and I’m thrilled to be able to compete at Congress! I have been competing in all-around events since I was nine years old, and the horsemanship portion is one of the components I am most excited for! I have been practicing horsemanship with my gelding, Tater, as well as with my Western teammates at St. Andrews University in preparation for the IHSA Semi-Finals, and I am confident I will be well prepared to take on the horsemanship competition at Congress!
The 2018 SCQHA Queen Allison Hinson handed down the crown to me this past weekend at the 2018 Year-End awards banquet. My hard work paid off, and I’m so honored to hold the title.  All of my friends, family, and even some of contest's sponsors were able to be there to support me and make this experience a great one! It was also an amazing feeling to be crowned in front of all the members of the SCQHA at the banquet. My first act as Queen was to hand out awards to all the Year-End winners. It was such an amazing feeling to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments from 2018 and congratulate friends on a job well-done! My favorite part of the night was seeing the faces of all the youth members and competitors that were receiving Year-End awards for the first time. Looking back on the all the photos from the evening reminded me why I wanted to run for Queen. I love being able to celebrate with and encourage people and act as a  role model for all the young youth members who look up to me!
I cannot wait to see where this year as Queen takes me and to be able to represent the SCQHA as your 2019 SCQHA Queen!

Until next time!
Love, Sarah Beth

If you haven't already cleared your schedule to make it to the Queen's Banquet on the 23rd during the Scqhya Show & Ken Smith Maxi Circuit, be sure you do💖 This year we are happy to announce that we will have a VERY special guest attending! This special guest will also be crowned the King👑 for the day and will get to hand out the awards for the Youth's Bouncy Horse Race Fundraiser! We are proud to announce that this special guest is Mr. William Hodges.
William Hodges, 6, is from Monroe, North Carolina where he is a rising 1st grader at Union Academy. He was diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia A at the age of 1, which means that his blood does not clot. He is a patient with St. Jude Affiliate Clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hemophilia is a painful and unpredictable disease. Will can go from being fine to suffering from severe bleeds very quickly. Will’s joints have always hurt him as this is where most of his bleeds occur. Will’s life involves major constraints, including not being able to play any sports and not even being able to ride a bike. He is currently on a new weekly shot called Hemlibra which is making it possible for him to live a more active lifestyle. When William is not in school or at the doctor’s office he enjoys building Legos, singing, watching Netflix, and making everybody smile. We are so lucky to have Will joining us this year. Please come celebrate with us!

Dillon takes on the Beach!

In February, Dillon and I made the trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to have another photo shoot with our favorite photographer, Amanda Delgado, owner of Southern Horse Photography. I wasn't sure how he was going to act since he had never seen anything like the ocean before. Surprisingly, he did SO good and he actually wanted to play in the water! We tried to get sunset pictures but the fog rolled in unexpectedly, so it made for some very pretty, unique photos. Take a look at some of them below! And once again thank you so much for all of your hard work Amanda, and thank you for being the official photographer for the SCQHA Queen's Competition!

Back in September, I had the privilege of having Amanda Delgado, the owner of Southern Horse Photography, come out to do a queen photo-shoot before I hit the road for Congress! She captured the most amazing pictures; ones that I will forever cherish. She is such a sweet, genuine person and we had such a fantastic time taking these pictures!  I cannot thank you enough Amanda! In order to get memories that will last a lifetime, be sure to contact her at http://southernhorsephotography.com/

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Palmetto Fall Classic Open Show that was put on by the Hammond High school Equestrian Team. There was a fantastic turn out and we all had a great time helping them raise funds for their competitions. These young ladies are so passionate about what they do and boy can they rock the horsemanship! I have no doubt that some of them will be running for queen one day <3
